Quince Orchard girls’ basketball moved to 2-2 on the season with a 50-44 victory over Magruder, closing out the game with a 14-7 4th quarter. Quince Orchard was led by senior Maggie Regan who had two three-pointers on the way to 15 points. Junior Destini Kelley added 10, freshman Tatiana Popa had eight points including one three-pointer, and senior Yekta Kamali added six points.
QO struggled early slowing down Magruder junior Laila Grant who would finish with 27 points. Her 10 first quarter points sparked Magruder to a 20-13 lead at the end of one. Quince Orchard clawed back to within 27-25 at halftime led by Popa’s five points and Kelley’s four points in the quarter.
Regan sparked the Cougars with five 3rd quarter points as QO cut Magruder’s lead to one with eight minutes left.
The game remained close until the last couple of minutes. Junior Lindsay Michaels hit a big three pointer with a few minutes to go, and Kelley passed to Regan for a layup that helped stretch the QO lead with a few minutes left.
Quince Orchard is now off for several days with the holiday break. They return to action on Wednesday, December 27th at 3 pm vs Churchill at the Richard Montgomery Holiday Tournament.
