This winter, we will preview the indoor track & field season through the eyes of our senior class. Each senior was asked 10 questions about the upcoming season, their goals, and their team.
10 Questions with Margaret Lilyestrom
How many years have you participated with QO track & field? What other sports have you played at QO?
This will be my third year running indoor track. I also run cross country and outdoor track.
What are your main events and personal bests?
My main event is the 3200, and my personal best is 12:02.
What are you most excited for this season?
I am most excited to get to know all the new runners, and see how everyone does in their events.
Which teammate are you most excited to watch this season? From whom are you expecting big things?
I am excited to see everyone run and improve throughout the season. I am expecting big things from our girl sprinters, as they have had really great seasons these past years.
How do you plan to stay focused through the long, cold season?
Being able to see some of my closest friends everyday is definitely something that makes Winter a little better.
What’s your favorite QO Track & Field memory?
Some of my favorite memories from track include running with my friends when it is snowing.
Who is your favorite professional track & field athlete? Why?
My favorite runner is Amelia Boone, who is an obstacle course runner. She is my favorite runner because it takes a lot of drive & focus to run challenging obstacle courses.
What are your main individual goals for the season?
My individual goals for the season include getting a personal best, but not getting stressed.
What are your main team goals for the season?
My main goal for the team is for everyone to work together as a cohesive group.
