This winter, we will preview the indoor track & field season through the eyes of our senior class. Each senior was asked 10 questions about the upcoming season, their goals, and their team.

10 Questions with Alexis Martin

 

How many years have you participated with QO track & field? What other sports have you played at QO?

I have participated with QO indoor track and field for 3 years and QO outdoor track and field for 4 years. I also played for the girls JV basketball team during my freshman and sophomore years. 

What are your main events and personal bests?
My main events include the 300m, 4x200m, and 4x400m during the indoor season and the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, and 4x200m during the outdoor season. 

What are you most excited for this season?

I am most excited to improve my times, whether it is in my individual races or the relays, and help/interact with my new teammates.

Which teammate are you most excited to watch this season? From whom are you expecting big things?

I am most excited to watch Zakaiyah Bright this season, and I expect big things from her as well.

How do you plan to stay focused through the long, cold season?

K Lyles, K Martin, A Martin, Z Bright

I plan to stay focused through the long, cold season by focusing on what I need to get done and work on and fully putting my mind to becoming a better runner.

What’s your favorite QO Track & Field memory?

My favorite Track & Field memory is running in the Penn Relays last year with Kayla Martin, Zakaiyah Bright, and Kyra Lyles.

Who is your favorite professional track & field athlete? Why?

Allyson Felix

My favorite professional track & field athlete is Alison Felix. She focuses on herself and what she needs to get done. She continues to work to be the best that she can be. 

What are your main individual goals for the season?

My main individual goals for the season is to become a stronger runner and to improve my leadership skills. I want to be a role model to the lower classmen and illustrate what it means to be a hard worker and good leader.

What are your main team goals for the season?

My main individual goals for the season is to become a stronger runner and to improve my leadership skills. I want to be a role model to the lower classmen and illustrate what it means to be a hard worker and good leader.

I am extremely excited for the opportunities that I will be given and the ability make my last indoor track and field season a good one!
