Clarksburg High School
Quince Orchard High School
QO suffered their loss of the season, a heartbreaker to Clarksburg, who benefited from winning the opening coin flip. The Cougars werre missing a few of their key wrestlers and won 7 of the 14 bouts. However Coyotes earned extra bonus points by pinning in all 7 of their wins while QO earned wins on 4 pins, 1 forfeit and 2 decisions. Seniors Danny Henn (160 lbs) and Eisley Kim (195 lbs) and Sophomore Alejandro Lopez (132lbs) all pinned their opponents. Freshman Jay Bollinger (138 lbs) earned a decision after the 3rd period of overtime and Junior Brett Williams (170 lbs) also added 3 points to the Cougars’ total with his win. Junior Alec Falconer (145 lbs) picked up a win by forfeit.
Clatksburg’s 152 pounder missed weight but because they win the coin toss and chose “even” QO had to present their wrestler, Ale Falconer, first in the 145 lb matchwhich was an odd numbered match (the 5th). Clarksburg chose to forfeit to Alec and have their 145 pounder wrestle against QO’s freshman wrestler who also weighed in at 145 lbs which was a better matchup for the Coyotes as they earned 6 team points with a pin.
Had Clarksburg chosen to face the tough and experienced Falconer, they would have likely lost by fall and gone 0-12 in those two matches and instead came away with a 6-7 split.
The varsity Cougars look to rebound on Tursday when they travel to Walt Whitman HS to face the Vikings.
